How can we deliver water security for all Territorians, now and into the future? Join us for our annual NT Water Breakfast as we discuss Servicing Territory communities – opportunities and challenges in providing safe drinking water.

The panel’s focus will be the commitment of the Northern Territory Government in the Draft Strategic Water Plan to provide safe and sustainable drinking water for our Territory communities.

The Darwin event will consist of a hot plated breakfast with the event to be livestreamed via webinar. Aunty Bilawara Lee will welcome us to country and details of our speakers and panel members are indicated below.

MC: Kruti Patel, NT Branch President
Senior Environmental Engineer, Wallbridge Gilbert Aztec
Kruti is a civil engineer with 15 years of experience working in the water industry. She has been involved in a wide range of water and wastewater planning and design projects in the Northern Territory and Western Australia and is passionate about the delivery of practical design solutions for both urban and remote areas.

Having completed a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education at the University of Queensland, Minister Uibo was a teacher in the remote community of Numbulwar before entering politics. Minister Uibo was first appointed as a Minister in 2018. She loves the Territory and is proud to be able to work to improve the lives of all Territorians.

Panel Facilitator: Natalie Fries, Technical Director and Environment Market Leader, GHD
Natalie is a past NT Branch President of the Australian Water Association and has a background in water quality and management. Natalie has led infrastructure planning for Essential Services across the NT and is currently delivering the latest NT Infrastructure Audit. In addition to this Natalie provides environmental approvals services to government and private industry.

Adam is the Executive Director of WSAA, a position he commenced in 2011. Adam provides national leadership in policy positions for the Australian urban water sector on issues including industry reform, liveable cities, water quality, climate change, customer engagement and asset management. Adam also holds non-executive Board roles including the Global Water Research Coalition and the Water Environment and Research Foundation (USA).

steven porter_2Panel Member:  Steven Porter, Executive General Manager of Water Services, Power and Water Corporation
Steven has over 36 years’ experience in the water industry across public and private sectors in Victoria, Queensland and the Northern Territory. He is currently involved in the Darwin Region Water Supply Infrastructure Program. This program is inclusive of the Manton Dam Return to Service ($190M) and the Adelaide River Off-stream Water Storage (AROWS) scheme ($1.2B). Steven’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), a Masters in Organisation Dynamics, and he is an Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) graduate, currently serving on the Board of Carpentaria Disability Services.

Rowan has led the Office of Water Security for the past 18 months. He has led the development of the draft Territory Water Plan, the first whole-of-government strategy for water in the Northern Territory.
Rowan is a public policy specialist with 14 years’ experience in the Northern Territory Government, working in intergovernmental relations, strategic policy and program delivery in the Department of the Chief Minister and Cabinet and across various portfolio areas including housing, local government, regional development and procurement.

COVIDSafe Event Guidelines 
The Australian Water Association has closely followed Government recommendations to develop COVIDSafe Guidelines for AWA events going forward. These guidelines will be in place at this event and have been developed to ensure attendee health and safety. Your support is also essential to keep this event COVIDSafe. We ask that delegates observe good hygiene and physical distancing at the event, where possible. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the event. Please email events@awa.asn.au at least 48 hours prior to the event if you are unable to attend due to illness. Under these circumstances a transfer of your registration to a colleague will be accepted at no cost. If Government restrictions impact your ability to attend, or AWA's ability to hold the event, an AWA team member will be in touch to discuss your registration.
