The current International Water Association Australia (IWAA) Committee is pleased to advise that nominations for the IWAA Committee are now open for the 2023 – 2025 financial year, with a newly created Young Water Professional (YWP) Subcommittee.   
 

The IWAA Committee facilitates opportunities for IWA and AWA members to engage locally and globally in thematic activities, specialist groups, publications and events. The IWAA Committee recommend and assist to secure IWA events in Australia, to foster close collaboration between IWA and AWA to benefit the complementary objectives of both organisations and their respective members. 
 
The IWAA Committee reflects a cross-section of water sector backgrounds, connections and expertise. Committee members provide enormous value to the IWAA when this knowledge and experience is applied to IWAA activities. With ongoing limitations on international events, we are interesting in exploring other ways to engage with and provide value to our local members. We look forward to receiving your nominations and ideas.

Each position is for a two (2) year term commencing 1 July 2023 through to 30 June 2025. Only joint IWA and AWA members are eligible to nominate. 

The International Water Association (IWA) and the Australian Water Association (AWA) are pleased to welcome creation of the newly established joint IWA-AWA Australian Young Water Professionals Chapter.  

Members in IWAA YWP will build their career in the water sector by connecting and contributing (work with peers internationally) to the water sector, and through this build their network, develop professionally, and gain profile. 

The YWP subcommittee will consist of up to fifteen (15) professional or concession members and include a YWP Subcommittee Chair and Vice Chair. Each position is for a two (2) or three (3) year term commencing 1 July 2023 through to 30 June 2025 or 30 June 2026.

The IWAA committee and IWAA subcommittee meets regularly and facilitates multiple initiatives such as supporting Australian bids for IWA conferences, Ozwater presentations and other events such as IWA / AWA National Young Water Professionals conference, and connecting IWA specialist groups with AWA specialist networks.

To nominate for a committee you must be a financial member of the AWA and IWA as of 30 April 2023. If you are not a member and would like to nominate, membership can be made online for AWA here or IWA here. 

Nominations close on 4 May 2023. You will be notified of your nomination outcome in June 2023.

To nominate please complete the application below. Please ensure you have your membership number handy  and you MUST provide a 150 word nomination statement. Applications that are incomplete or DO NOT include a nomination statement will be deemed ineligible.

Should more nominations be received than positions are available, elections will be undertaken in June 2023. New committee terms commence July 2023.

Successful candidates will have an official induction. A volunteer handbook and volunteer policies and procedures will also be provided. You can find the Australian Water Association’s Constitution and By-Laws on our website.
