Sydney students learn about starting a career in the water industry

To spread the word about the water industry, the Australian Water Association's New South Wales Young Water Professionals (YWPs) recently hosted four water industry careers nights for more than 100 university students in Sydney.

Speakers discussed their experiences in the industry so far during presentations at the University of Sydney, the University of NSW, Western Sydney University and the University of Technology Sydney.

The events were held as part of the annual NSW Branch Water Industry Careers Nights, which are aimed at giving university students an introduction into the world of water, and offering some insight into where such a career might take them.

Presentations were provided by a total of 12 volunteer speakers over the four events, representing Sydney Water, BMT, AECOM, Stantec and UNSW, with an equal number of men and women.

Each session was followed by an open Q&A and informal networking to give students the opportunity to engage directly with guest speakers on the night. And eat some pizza too!

The NSW YWPs would like to extend their thanks to the universities for their support in hosting the events, and to the careers night sponsor, Sydney Water.
