Public House Kitchen and Bar
From February to October the WA Branch Committee will host monthly informal networking events in the form of after-work Sundowner drinks. Each month we'll have an interesting topic for discussion and the opportunity to meet and catch up with other AWA members and non-members. Events are free, with a bar available at the venue to purchase your own drinks. Food is also available to purchase. We look forward to seeing you for a casual gathering of like-minded water sector professionals!
Guest Speaker Our October guest speaker is Brooke O’Donnell, a proud Palyku woman from Yandeyarra in the Pilbara region who has lived on Perth, Wadjuk Noongar land for the past 38 years. Brooke was recently elected Deputy Mayor at the City of Kalamunda and previously worked as a Social Worker in both Departments of Justice and Communities, striving for social justice.
Since 2021 Brooke has been the Team Lead for Aboriginal Heritage at the Water Corporation, where the team ensures works do not compromise on Cultural Heritage and that Aboriginal engagement is heard and embedded in all activities throughout Western Australia.
Brooke will be talking about the importance of Aboriginal heritage and native title practices in development and ensuring best practices for engagement with Traditional Owners for the maintenance of long term relationships.
COVIDSafe Guidelines The Australian Water Association has closely followed Government recommendations to develop COVIDSafe Guidelines for AWA events going forward. These guidelines will be in place at this event and have been developed to ensure attendee health and safety. Your support is also essential to keep this event COVIDSafe. We ask that delegates observe good hygiene and physical distancing at the event, where possible. If you are feeling unwell, please do not attend the event.
Our sundowners are free for both members and non-members and you are welcome to bring a friend.
