Join us for our first-ever, outdoor sundowner to enjoy our end of summer Perth weather and kick off our WA Branch events for 2024! This month's host will be providing a BBQ for attendees!

From February to October the WA Branch Committee will host monthly informal networking events in the form of after-work Sundowner drinks. Each month we'll have an interesting topic for discussion and the opportunity to meet and catch up with others working in water. Our sundowners are free for both AWA members and non-members and you are welcome to bring a friend.

February Guest Speaker

Wilfried Wimmler, Managing Director, Innovative Filtration Solutions
Wilfried has over 40 years’ experience in the wastewater/dewatering industry with a solid understanding of various chemical and industrial processes and a number of dewatering technologies. Wilfried has an impressive career having worked with Netzsch in Europe/Eastern Europe, Asia and Australia as well as establishing and managing Ishigaki Oceania for over a decade. In 2017 Wilfried established Innovative Filtration Solutions with his son Lukas, focusing on Screw Press and Filter Press dewatering solutions suitable for wastewater and mining applications.

Wilfried will provide some insights into IFS's recently completed Mid Coast Council project where a Mobile Screw Press Dewatering Container was delivered, which was sized to handle double the capacity of the replaced centrifuge installation. The mobile plant is able to travel between various council sites to dewater sewage treatment lagoons/ponds, resting at each site for a few months for continuous and unamended dewatering. The costs savings in power and polymer consumption, dryer cake moistures for disposal and operator input due to unmanned operation significantly reduce operating costs for sludge. Due to low power consumption required for this system, solar power is being considered.

Would your organisation like to host one of our monthly sundowners in 2024?

From February to October 2024 the WA Branch will hold monthly informal networking events in the form of after-work Sundowner drinks.

In 2024 we're continuing to offer our Corporate Members the opportunity to host a sundowner at your office/premises. As a host, you will have the opportunity for a 5-minute business pitch and to provide a speaker to talk about a project or projects you have been working on (15 minutes), or alternatively, the AWA will source a guest speaker.

In return, all we ask is that you provide us with a space for between 30-50 people with some drinks and nibbles.

Sundowners are designed as informal gatherings, as opposed to technical presentations and AV facilities/PPT presentations are not required.

The AWA can provide a portable speaker and microphone for the speaker(s) if hosts are unable to provide these facilities.

Sundowners are free events and registration is required. We will create an event webpage, registration platform and one communication to our member/subscriber database in the week leading up to the event. We can include the host's logo in the communication. Hosts are welcome to undertake social media posts promoting the event, in line with AWA guidelines and branding. Guests numbers will be provided approx. 3-4 days beforehand for catering purposes. A delegate list may be provided to the host however the Australian Water Association does not share delegate contact information.
