The 2025 YWP Regional Tour will be travelling to Daylesford and surrounds, and return via Bacchus Marsh, to explore the evolving challenges and opportunities in drinking water supply . This year’s theme — Back to Square One, Addressing Water Challenges in Growing Communities — invites us to return to the source of the water cycle, starting at raw water management to treatment, whilst developing understandings on the regional cultural connection

Expect a deep dive into key climate, infrastructure, and community factors that are driving and reshaping regional water systems — all through the lens of one of Victoria’s most iconic tourist and water-reliant towns.

Daylesford is world-renowned for its natural springs — This comes with heightened challenges to manage this unique system:

Highly variable seasonal use
Growing demand from expanding communities
The need for major investment, connecting into state wide systems, to sustain aging systems
Incorporating community consultation appropriately into infrastructure development.

This makes Victoria’s rapidly growing inner western region and Hepburn shire the perfect backdrop to discuss the balance between water heritage and water future, all whilst considering the Bacchus Marsh region on the edge of expanding suburbia.

Join us for this exciting two day tour, where you'll have the opportunity to engage in interactive workshops, visit many sites, attend captivating presentations, and a connect with like-minded YWP's.

7.00am	Depart Southern Cross Railway station bus terminal
10.30am	Tour opening - Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at Lake Daylesford
11.00am	Central Highlands Water welcome and discussion
12.00pm	Picnic lunch
1.00pm	Ground Water discussion
2.30pm	Daylesford water treatment plant
4.00pm	Check into accommodation at Bellinzona Hotel or Mineral Springs Hotel
7.00pm	3 Course dinner at Rubens

Day 2 - Friday 12 September

8.00pm	Buffet breakfast at Bellinzona Hotel
9.00pm	Group workshop
12.00pm	Merrimu Reservoir
