Come along to learn about the Eyre Peninsula Desalination Project at the AWA SA Branch upcoming 20th August Sundowner 2026! Following the talk, there will be plenty of time for expanding your network over post work drinks, with many thanks to our sponsor GPA Engineering.

Theme

The Eyre Peninsula Desalination Project is a major infrastructure program designed to deliver a long term, climate resilient water supply for the region. The project integrates a new seawater reverse osmosis plant at Billy Lights Point with a 435-metre marine intake and outfall tunnel, constructed using a tunnel boring machine to minimise coastal disturbance. Supporting works include a 7-kilometre transfer pipeline linking the plant to the Northside Hill Tanks and significant upgrades to local electrical infrastructure. Construction is now fully underway across marine, terrestrial pipeline and plant site work fronts, with the transfer pipeline and power infrastructure components already completed. Once operational in mid-2027, the system will supplement the Uley South groundwater basin, reduce reliance on the River Murray, and provide secure drinking water for approximately 35,000 customers across the Eyre Peninsula.
