YWP x YEA June Sundowner Mixer - Bolivar WWTP Expansion Project

In collaboration with the Engineers Australia SA Branch Young Engineers Australia (YEA) Committee, the SA Branch AWA Young Water Professionals (YWP) Committee invite you to take the chance to hear and ask questions about SA’s biggest WWTP, and its biggest expansion in over 20 years at this month’s Sundowner! Following on, there will be plenty of time for expanding your network over post work drinks & nibbles shared between YEAs and YWPs thanks to our sponsor GPA Engineering

South Australia’s largest Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is Bolivar WWTP. Bolivar serves over 70% of South Australia’s population with a catchment spread over 530 square kilometres, and with this catchment growing, Bolivar is undergoing a significant upgrade to its capacity. This upgrade to its capacity is focused on an expansion of Bolivar WWTP’s inlet screens, which are being more than doubled in size.

Get an inside look at Bolivar WWTP and inlet screens major capacity upgrade from those at SA Water who have managed the design and delivery of this project! A co-presentation from the SA Water/Aurecon Design Manager, Mark Stone-Wigg, and SA Water Project & Portfolio Manager, Katrina Oorloff, will provide insights into the ins and outs of this massive project.

Speaker 1:

Katrina Oorloff (Senior Project Manager – SA Water)

Senior Project Manager and Acting Portfolio Manager at SA Water, overseeing the delivery of $400M in capital works within wastewater treatment plant. Experienced across infrastructure sectors including rail, construction, and wastewater treatment, with a strong track record in complex project delivery—most recently leading the Bolivar Inlet Works upgrade

Speaker 2:

Mark Stone-Wigg (Technical Director Water – Aurecon / Lead Design Manager – SA Water)

Mark has over 38 years’ experience across water and environmental industries in Australia, the UK and other parts of the world. Mark is a Technical Director in Aurecon’s Adelaide office, but currently he is a Lead Design Manager within the integrated SA Water Engineering team.
