NT Sundowners (Darwin & Alice Springs) July 2026

Join us in either Darwin or Alice Springs for our July Sundowners to build your network with the NT water community. Jo Ellis, our Darwin guest speaker will provide some insights into how the US is addressing the water and sanitation access gap for water efficiency and effective onsite sanitation in the Black Belt of Alabama.

The NT Branch Committee will hold quarterly informal networking events in the form of after-work Sundowner drinks, providing an opportunity to expand your water network in the Northern Territory. 

Our sundowners are free for both AWA members and non-members and you are welcome to bring a friend.

Darwin Guest Speaker 

Jo Ellis

 

Joanna Ellis, Director of Water Planning, Department of Lands, Planning and Environment. 

Jo has over 20 years’ experience working across Europe, Africa, Australia, the Pacific and North America. Beginning in hydrogeology and remote water supply planning, Jo spent a decade with Indigenous Essential Services at Power and Water, supporting water planning, capital delivery and operations for 72 remote communities. From 2021 to 2025, Jo worked in the USA on global water initiatives with the World Bank, UN and non-profits. 

Jo will provide attendees some insights into how the US is addressing the water and sanitation access gap for water efficiency and effective onsite sanitation in the Black Belt of Alabama, exploring the emerging domestic WASH sector working to address this gap. Jo will highlight a collaborative water efficiency and onsite sanitation pilot project in as a case study for innovative, community-driven solutions.
