The 2025 Northern Territory Minister’s Breakfast themed, “Shaping the Future: A Water Policy Update” will include a Ministerial Address from the Hon Joshua Burgoyne, Minister for Lands, Planning and Environment; Corporate and Digital Development; Water Resources, in a discussion facilitated by Matt Brann, ABC News NT.
Water is fundamental in underpinning the Northern Territory’s economic development, livelihoods and liveability in the extreme climates across the Territory from the tropical north to arid regions. Climates that are expected to become more challenging through a changing climate. Access to safe drinking water and sanitation is critical for public health, and resilient communities. Members and guests of AWA will hear about priorities and initiatives within the Minister's portfolios of water resources and environment & planning, which each play a central role in protecting the Territory’s icon aquatic environments and culture & communities, whilst supporting economic development.
The Darwin event will consist of a hot plated breakfast and the event will livestreamed via webinar.

& Malawu in the Territory and will provide a Welcome to Country for delegates. Mary is bilingual in English, Gulumoerrgin, Iwaidja & Tiwi and her totems include the Dangalaba (Saltwater Crocodile) and Manyich (Sun) Pandanus.

Joshua Burgoyne was appointed as a Northern Territory minister in September 2024 with the portfolios of Water Resources; Lands, Planning and Environment; Corporate and Digital Strategy. Joshua will provide an update on his portfolio & priorities and discuss the NT Government's strategic aspirations.
Territory born and bred, Joshua is passionate about supporting people, having been raised by his parents who worked in the medical industry and police services for over 3 decades. An electrician by trade, Joshua has worked for a small family run business and is passionate about ensuring business and industry has certainty to operate, innovate and invest.
