Join us online to hear from David Kempisty and Charlie Gordon, winners of the Best Water e-Journal Paper – in Honour of Guy Parker for 2024. David and Charlie will give us an overview of their research and paper: The Treatment of PFAS-Impacted Groundwater Using Novel Regenerable Ion Exchange Resin: A Five-Year Case Study, followed by a short Q&A session.

Presentation Topic
The Treatment of PFAS-Impacted Groundwater Using Novel Regenerable Ion Exchange Resin: A Five-Year Case Study

Over five years, a regenerable ion exchange (RIEX) system treating PFAS-impacted groundwater in northern Australia has delivered impressive results: more than 1.8 billion litres of water treated, 22 kilograms of PFAS removed, and no degradation in resin performance across 26 regeneration cycles.

In this webinar, David Kempisty and Charlie Gordon will share insights from their award-winning research, exploring how the RIEX system has proven to be a resilient, cost-effective and future-proof solution to one of the water sector’s most persistent challenges. They'll also discuss system design, regeneration efficiency, and the implications of tightening PFAS regulations—offering practical takeaways for anyone working with emerging contaminants or advanced water treatment technologies.

The presentation will be followed by a short Q&A session with questions taken by participants.
