Annual General Meeting 2026

The Australian Water Association would like to invite you to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 12 November 2026 at 3:30pm AEDT. 

You will hear from our President Kevin Werksman and CEO Corinne Cheeseman as they present on the year that was and the year ahead, including:

• Highlights from our events, member stories and engagement
• Outcomes from Ozwater’26 in Brisbane
• An update on Strategy 2030

This 2026 AGM will include a unique opportunity for members to vote on the adoption of the Proposed New Constitution. Following a comprehensive review, the proposed changes provide a clearer, contemporary governance framework while preserving AWA’s purpose, membership structure and member-led governance model.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the review. Member consultation in August and September 2026 informed further amendments to the Proposed New Constitution and Draft By-Laws. All feedback was considered by AWA’s Governance and Audit Subcommittee and Board, with the amendments also considered by the Strategic Advisory Council. A summary of feedback and all constitution documentation is included in the AGM notice which can be downloaded below.

This AGM will also include the appointment of Directors, who are elected every second year. The Strategic Advisory Council will meet prior to the AGM to select the ongoing and new Directors subject to ratification by the members as the AGM. 

During the AGM members will be asked to vote on the:

• Adoption of AWA’s 2025-26 Financial Statements
• Appointment of the Company Auditor and authorisation of Directors to agree the Auditor remuneration 
• Adoption of the Proposed New AWA Constitution  
• Confirmation of President and President Elect, and 
• Appointment of Directors
  

If you wish to appoint proxy you must do so in writing using the Proxy Form. Completed proxy forms must be received by the Association a week prior to the meeting, by 3:30pm AEDT on Thursday 5 November 2026.

AGM Details

We'll be hosting the AGM in person and virtually using the Zoom platform. Upon entering the meeting, the status of your membership or proxy appointment will be verified. Please ensure your membership is current. 

If attending virtually, you'll still be able to ask questions as you would at a face-to-face AGM. We recommend that you pre-register your attendance so that we can send you a personal meeting invite prior to the start of the AGM on 12 November, along with instructions for asking questions and voting using your phone.
