Australian Water Association’s Australian Pavillion wins ‘outstanding stand’ at Vietnam Water Week Conference and Exhibition

Congratulations to the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) on an incredibly successful Vietnam Water Week Conference and Exhibition held in Binh Duong New City last week.

For CEO of AWA, Corinne Cheeseman, It was an honour to speak in the opening ceremony on the strong relationship between the Australian Water Association and VWSA over the past 9 years and to be awarded with a medal alongside colleagues Katie Hanniffy (née Trevor) and Van Huy Tran for their contribution to the Vietnam Water Sector.

The week began with a reception at the Australian Consul-Generals residence in Ho Chi Minh City. Thanks to Acting Consul-General Mr Ciaran Chestnutt, for hosting the Australian delegation and our Vietnamese colleagues from the Vietnam Water Sector in the 50th year of Australia and Vietnam’s diplomatic relationship.

The
Australian Water Association’s Australian Pavillion in the Exhibition won ‘outstanding stand’ and showcased innovative Australian companies working and building relationships in Vietnam to support water services including ALGAESYS Detection Services Pty Ltd, James Cumming And Sons Pty Ltd, Water Source International and Quantum Filtration Medium Pty Ltd

It was also a great chance for the AWA team to connect with their friends and colleagues in the Asia-Pacific region from Indonesia (PERPAMSI), Cambodia (CWA), Loas, and Malaysia who kindly invited Katie Hanniffy and Corinne Cheeseman to attend the South East Asia Water Utilties Network (SEAWUN) meeting.

We look forward to continuing our important work in Vietnam. The Australian Water Association and VWSA are currently managing three water utility partnerships between our members to share knowledge and build capability for climate resilience and the provision of safe drinking water.
