WA Water Breakfast 2021

WA Water Breakfast 2021
The WA Branch invites you to attend our annual water industry breakfast for a topical session on “Water’s Role in WA’s Energy transition to Net Carbon Zero” on Wednesday 28 July 2021.

In August 2019, the Western Australian Government announced aspirations of net zero emissions for Western Australia and subsequently developed the Western Australian Climate Policy in November 2020. The policy details a suite of climate change actions underway and sets out new commitments to support a vision of a low-carbon future. These include initiatives to support the net zero transition across the public sector; initiatives for low-carbon energy, mining and agriculture; and commitments to guide decarbonisation across the rest of our economy.

Whether it’s creating a more efficient way for moving and treating wastewater, harnessing water for power generation, or separating water molecules for the production of green hydrogen, water will play a key role in WA achieving its aspirations of a net carbon zero emissions state by 2050. Transitioning towards a net zero emission environment will require commitment, development and investment in new technology, leadership, and the whole economy working together. The 2021 AWA Breakfast Session will provide insight into the various strategies and actions being employed by various organisations within our industry to achieve this important goal.

We are pleased to announce Professor Peter Newman, AO as our keynote speaker who will provide a summary of the WA Climate Policy, including the priority themes and practical actions the State Government is taking to enhance climate resilience and support the low carbon transition, as stipulated in the policy, based on his knowledge and experience

The panel discussion to be facilitated by WA Branch President, Peter Spencer. Our panel members are:
