NSW State Conference 2025
The 2025 NSW State Conference in Newcastle will explore the theme of Liquid Futures: Rethinking Water Management for a Fast-Changing World
This forward-thinking conference will bring together experts, policymakers, industry leaders, scientists, students, and environmental professionals to explore cutting-edge solutions for sustainable water management. As climate change, urbanisation, and technological advancements continue to reshape our relationship with water, the event will focus on strategies that promote resilience, equity, and efficiency in water governance. Through thought-provoking discussions, real-world case studies, and interactive sessions, attendees will gain valuable insights into adapting to emerging challenges while leveraging new opportunities in water stewardship. Taking place in Newcastle the event plans to connect Newcastle history, industry and technology to guide discussions towards future water solutions.
Over 2.5 days, participants will have the opportunity to connect with peers at networking events, hear from outstanding keynote speakers, and engage with high-quality technical content and sessions.

About | The Kooragang Industrial Water Scheme (KIWS) transfers up to 12.6 Megalitres (ML) of secondary treated effluent each day from the Shortland Wastewater Treatment Works to an advanced water treatment plant which produces up to 10.5 ML per day of recycled water for use by industrial customers on Kooragang Island. This scheme alone saves up to 3.8 billion litres of drinking water each year. |

About | Hosted by the staff at the Murrook Culture Centre, participants will be welcomed and introduced to Buna which is paramount to the success of cultural development. Participants will learn about Aboriginal culture, history and advance their insight into the myriad of social, historic, economic and political issues that continue to affect and concern Aboriginal Communities. Honest and healthy conversations to support and strengthen relationships with one another in a safe place, to inspire growth and understanding of one's own conscious knowledge and how it relates to everyday life is encouraged. |
