YOUR BEYOND ZERO SPECIALIST NETWORK

This network aims to unite the water sector in a combined effort to address greenhouse gas emissions across Australia’s water industry. The Beyond Zero Specialist Network is being established to act as a tangible resource for government, water authorities, and industry partners, bringing together a diverse committee of experts to drive consistent communication, shared procedures, and practical technology adoption in support of sector-wide decarbonisation.

As the field of emissions management continues to evolve, the network is well placed to evaluate and promote current and emerging approaches for modelling, monitoring, mitigating, and reporting greenhouse gas emissions in water and wastewater systems. It will work to establish globally aligned tools, procedures and standards, and ensure WSAA organisations and AWA members have affordable, universal access to best practice people, processes and technology. The network will provide unified industry support for the WSAA 2050 Net Zero and broader Circular Economy, Nature Positive and Scope 3 ambitions, with a clear focus on known emissions hotspots, particularly fugitive emissions from wastewater treatment. It will also facilitate, finance and promote innovation through research, trials and projects that reduce the sector’s carbon footprint.
