Tree Planting Day

Around 50 of our Victorian Young Water Professionals gathered on Sunday 22 May planting 800 seedlings just West of Millers Road along Kororoit Creek in Altona to support the habitat for the Altona Skipper Butterfly. The trees are a vital link between the butterfly population in “The Pines” in Seaholme and another population next to Cherry Lake.

AWA has been working with Melbourne Water to support the initiative since 2015, and we are now in our sixth year of planting together.

We would like to thank Melbourne Water’s Gerard Morel and the wider Waterways team. Also, our special thanks to Melbourne Water for their support of the program through the “Liveable Communities, Liveable Waterways” grant.
