SA Water names preferred partners for $1.2b capital works program

KBR and Aurecon will support SA Water to deliver its $1.2 billion Regulatory Business Period 2020 (RBP20) capital works projects in South Australia (SA).

The companies are preferred for the Client Organisation Parter (COP) and Front End Engineering Design/Owner’s Engineer (FEED/OE) contracts. They will work together to provide program and project management, procurement support, and engineering and construction management services as part of an integrated management team within SA Water.

Aurecon Global Head of Water Kevin Werksman said the 50/50 joint venture would deliver value for the utility and its customers.

“With our partner KBR, we are bringing the whole of Aurecon to support SA Water in imagining and delivering better water services and outcomes for its customers across the whole of SA,” Werksman said.

“With COP and FEED/OE services extending across the asset lifecycle, including engineering, planning, program management and procurement support services, our skills will support SA Water to deliver on its strategic program objectives.”

KBR Vice President of Infrastructure Services Wayne Nolan said he was looking forward to continuing KBR’s 30-year relationship with the water authority.

“We are fully committed to the successful delivery of SA Water’s RBP20,” Nolan said.

“We will bring together our local expertise in the water market sector, and best practice experience from similar programs of works elsewhere in the world to deliver these services.”

The SA Water contract is the second major long-term water partnership appointment for Aurecon in the past six months, with the business also being named Sydney Water’s Planning Partner for the next 10 years.

SA Water delivers water and wastewater services to almost 1.7 million people across the state.
