| Being brought up (career-wise) with Civil & Environmental Engineering (macro-scale) then holding the levers in a different field Chemical Engineering (micro-scale), I had the chance to observe divergent practices and different perspectives about the water sector. This dichotomy view (macro and micro) was passionately synchronized in my career as a water researcher cherishing every drop. And, those last couple of years at RnD (before joining my HDR program at UTS) really tuned my perspective from hovering over batch-scale lab solutions into plug-flow industrial resolutions. That said, looking forward to honing my perspective with this club of elite water league. |

My research focuses on sustainable water treatment, spanning particle separation, resource recovery for biotechnology, and the development of advanced monitoring tools. Prior to returning to Australia, I was based at KU Leuven in Belgium, where I chaired the YouReCa Centre’s Industry Engagement Chapter for the BeNeLux region. There, I established an algal biotechnology vertical and secured corporate sponsorships to support collaborative research. I also served on the Belgian Water Association’s Young Water Professionals (YWP) working committee, co-organising a career night with the YouReCa Career Center. I’m passionate about translating fundamental research into scalable, real-world solutions through strong industry engagement. I’m also committed to mentoring emerging researchers and YWPs, helping bridge the gap between academia and industry to support innovation in water and environmental sustainability." |
| "I am a geographer by profession, and my research focuses on water-infrastructure planning. I have been a be part of International Water Association for more than five years now. Serving the Emerging Water Leaders Forum and the Strategic Council. I am also currently part of the Programme Committee for the Emerging Water Leaders Forum 2025. I joined AWA last year, and meet some enthusiastic members over cocktail. From the very beginning, I have been passionate about making sure Young Water Professionals have a stronger voice and greater visibility. That passion really came to life when I published an article on water infrastructure planning focused on Western Sydney in the Sydney Morning Herald, it ended up being one of the top five articles that day, with over 250 comments and letters to the editor! It showed me just how much people care, and how important it is for us to have open, honest conversations about our future. My research has made it clear that the way we plan for water needs to be much more future-focused and resilient. That’s why I am putting my hand up for this nomination to bring people together, to spark those vital discussions, and to stand up to make it local when quick fixes threaten long-term sustainability. I truly believe Young Water Professionals have the passion, creativity, and drive to lead the way. I would be honoured to contribute to the NSW YWP Branch-Committee, and to work with all of you to make a real, lasting difference." |

| I am an Environmental Engineering student at UNSW, currently in my second year. My minor is in Humanitarian Engineering, because I believe applying a humanitarian perspective to engineering projects crucial to achieve sustainable solutions and appropriate designs that actually fit and benefit the culture of people and serve the environment. I am very involved in a range of extracurricular engineering activities. I am a Director of Development for CEVSOC (UNSWs Civil and Environmental Society), where I lead our Industry Mentoring Program and ran the Careers Fair with over 400 student attendees. I am a volunteer for Engineers Without Borders (EWB) and their Regional Engineering Youth Outreach Program, travelling to schools in western NSW to try and inspire young kids from ages 5 to 18 to become involved in humanitarian engineering through fun workshops and reach schools of sometimes only 15 children. I am also a design team member for Pacific Security, a new ChallENG project to increase water security in the Solomon Islands where we will be travelling out to in september to connect with the community members, government and people to collect water samples for lab testing and attempt to implement the trial stages of our project. I chose to study Environmental Engineering because I've always been motivated by problem solving and climate adaptive solutions. I also knew I wanted a career that is engaging as well as constantly evolving with opportunities to constantly learn as the world develops and different challenges emerge, and have always had these goals in the back of my mind to push through when university courses are hard. Half way through my degree, I hope to pursue a career in water or geotechnical engineering. My motivation to be involved in hydrology, coastal engineering, hydropower, groundwater and water security projects is backed by my personal curiosity within geology, climate adaptive engineering, real world engineering applications. I am motivated to join the committee to he able to represent the future generations that will AWA will be of use to and be involved with. I have a proactive nature as shown by my collaborations so far and believe as a younger undergraduate student I could offer a fresh perspective and opinion on how the committee can assist the future generation of water engineers, scientists and those with a similar passion for water accessibility, security and sustainable uses. |
