Viega launches Megapress S into the Australian market

Viega, the global plumbing press fit solutions manufacturer, has introduced the Megapress S system to the Australian market.

The carbon steel press fitting system offers a fast, effective alternative to traditional methods such as welding, threading or roll groove for mechanical services, fire protection, and industrial applications. A highly effective pressing method, Megapress connections can be made in a matter of seconds – helping to achieve up to 80% reduction in installation time.

Compatible with heating and cooling systems, the Viega Megapress S system achieves a cleaner and safer connection method and avoids the need for oils, heavy threading equipment or open flames. The simple to use pressing tool means that it can complete even tricky installations such as overhead pipework safely and effectively.

The Megapress connectors feature a unique sealing element that encompasses the pipe, guaranteeing a leak-proof connection even with coarse and uneven surfaces. Moreover, this special seal makes it possible to press seamless, welded, galvanised, commercial painted, epoxy resin-coated and black steel pipes with one and the same connector and crucially – it does not compromise the integrity of the pipe.

The Megapress tooling utilises our new casing system, with standardised case sizes that interlock. The press tool is supplied in this practical case. The three press jaws (½” to 1”) are provided in a second case, and the three press rings for nominal widths of 1¼” to 2” and hinged press jaws are supplied in a third case which are all the same size. For the XL sizes, the press booster comes with a 2 ½” press ring in its own case, and the 3” & 4” rings come in a separate case.

The Megapress S system ensures accurate testing through Viega’s Smart Connect Feature for further reliability. They are proven to deliver a 100% positive leak if the fitting is inadvertently unpressed. The Smart Connect Feature is a reliable method of detecting unpressed fittings, which is critical to avoid costly remedial work after the project is completed.

“The Viega Megapress S system has proven extremely popular in the US, UK and German markets - and we are now hugely excited to bring this ground-breaking technology to Australia,” says Phil Jackson, Managing Director of Viega Australia & New Zealand.

“With the introduction of the Megapress S system, we can provide installers with a tried and trusted method of connecting thick-walled steel pipework, eliminating the need for traditional methods, which carry increased risk and prolonged installation time. The Megapress S system is the modern alternative – fast, safe, and reliable.”
