Water for Victoria Forum
With Minister Lisa Neville
On Monday, 11 April nearly 100 Australian Water Association members came together to listen to the Victorian Minister for Water, the Hon. Lisa Neville discuss the Water for Victoria Discussion Paper. Introduced by Sue O’Connor, Chair of Yarra Valley Water, the Minister discussed issues such as investment, private-public partnering, holistic urban water management, water trading and the current drought. A question and answer session was also held with a number of questions for the Minister from the attendees. A key message that was delivered was that the effects of climate change needs to be adequately considered in all future projects, to ensure the long term liveability of our environment.
This was followed by a forum to discuss the nine chapters of the Water for Victoria Discussion Paper. A couple of sessions were run where small groups discussed a specific chapter of the Water for Victoria report with feedback provided to the room. This feedback will form the basis of AWA’s response to DELWP. To view the report, or provide your own feedback direct to DELWP please visit www.haveyoursay.delwp.vic.gov.au for more details. Submission close on 13 May 2016.
