Queensland Conference 2020

Queensland Conference 2020
Registrations now open for this year's Queensland Branch Conference (a combined North QLD Regional Conference and QWater Conference) to be held on the Sunshine Coast.

About this year's Conference
This year, our theme is: Sharing Learnings: A Growth Opportunity for the Water Industry.

From drought and bushfires to floods and a global pandemic, 2020 has been a year that has offered countless learning moments and growth opportunities. The quantum and rate of change in the last 12 months begs the question: Will what worked in the past still be right in the future?

There’s only one way to tell and in response, the Australian Water Association’s Queensland conference will provide a forum where technical learnings are celebrated and personal growth commended with papers and presentations targeted at enhancing our industry through SHARED experiences, CONNECTED membership, and INSPIRED individuals.

COVIDSafe Guidelines

We are excited that this event will be taking place face-to-face, with a live-stream option also available for those unable to travel. The Association has closely followed Government recommendations to develop COVIDSafe Guidelines for AWA events going forward. These guidelines will be in place at all face-to-face events and have been developed to ensure attendee and staff health and safety. As a result the event will have a maximum capacity of 180 in-person delegates for the main program,  with an additional maximum capacity of 70 in-person delegates for the Safety Program (which will be run separately). The dinner will have a maximum capacity of 260.

Registration
A key focus for this year's Conference is accessibility and ensuring everyone has an opportunity to engage with content that shares the knowledge, expertise and experience of water industry professionals with the wider industry. We are excited to offer a range of registration options for both in-person delegates and online delegates. As mentioned above we do have limited capacity for in-person delegates and do encourage you to book early to avoid disapointment.

Call for Young Professionals
Want to attend the AWA Queensland Conference 2020, but perhaps you don’t know any other conference delegates? Want to connect with more professionals within the water industry, but feels a bit awkward to make the first move? We get you, we have been there!
A group of us from the AWA QLD Young Water Professionals sub-committee will be attending the conference, and it is our pleasure to host an informal meet and greet at the start of the conference to get to know each other, make some connections, and attend some presentations, workshops and networking components together.
We will be meeting at the Arrivals Lounge (Sunshine Coast Convention Centre from 8am on the first day of the conference (18th Nov), and heading to the Welcome to Country ceremony at around 8:50am. Grab yourself a coffee and we hope to see you there!
