Call for Papers Now Open
The Australian Water Association’s Queensland Branch encourages submissions of abstracts for one of the Association’s leading regional conferences. The theme for this year, “Reefs, Catchments and Resilience”, aligns with the Association’s Strategy to Share, Connect and Inspire professionals across the water industry, including with its affiliates.
Delegates will be provided with opportunities to:
- SHARE: information and knowledge that is relevant to regional Queensland
- CONNECT: with members and water professionals from diverse industries
- INSPIRE: each other to make a positive change within the water industry; both urban and rural
Water is vital to life; drinking, irrigation, the environment, recreation, industry and development are all essential to life in the regions. Resilience has been in the spotlight recently. At the beginning of 2020 we witnessed an Australia of extremes; bushfires, towns running out of water and more recently flooding. In addition, we have been required to manage infrastructure in an uncertain environment with COVID-19. We have seen supply chains disrupted leading to delays in resources for projects (both human and material). All of these events create challenges but also opportunities; including the ability to influence and shape the future direction of water policy and support the water industry and water professionals.
The conference will continue to provide a strong technical focus and the forum for social interaction and networking that delegates have come to expect from the event. Papers and presentations will provide learnings, insights and showcase approaches to water management and infrastructure relevant to the region. The series of North Queensland Regional Conferences have been very successful over the years, with over 130 people attending recent regional conferences.
