Event wrap-up: Gender Diversity is Good for Business Lunch and Panel Discussion

Posted 20 April 2018

Gender Diversity is Good for Business PanelOn Thursday 15 March, around 70 water industry professionals came together to hear a keynote address from Sally Darke, who is currently non-executive director of TasWater, TasPorts and Chairperson of the Tasmanian Community Fund and Scotch Oakburn College. She gave us an insight into how diversity is managed beyond the water sector in Tasmania and some of the governance issues facing organisations today.

This was followed by a fascinating and engaging open panel discussion about what defines diversity versus inclusion and individual panellist’s stories. Panellists included:

Chris French, Operations Manager and Diversity Champion for GHD Victoria
Donna Brown, Environment and Stakeholder Manager with Hydro Tasmania
Dr Catherine Wheatley, CEO of aid organisation Water for a Village

The lunch was delicious, the chance to network too short but it was all brought together wonderfully by MC Lindsey Brown.

Thankyou to our panellists, MC and keynote speaker for their time and open discussion of their position on gender and broader diversity challenges facing the Tasmanian water industry.

The event would not have been possible without the support of our sponsors – Presenting Partners TASWater, TRILITY and pitt&sherry. GHD’s sponsorship of interstate panellist and MC travel costs was also greatly appreciated.
