Australia-Vietnam twinning program
Last November the Australian Water Association has facilitated the largest Australian water delegation to travel to Vietnam. In total, 94 individuals representing 43 organisations from Government, utilities, private sector and academic institutions participated in a week-long program designed to raise the profile of the Australian water sector’s skills and technological innovations in Vietnam and provide a platform for trade and aid collaboration between both water sectors. This included:

The Australian pavilion hosting 20 exhibitors
Inaugural Women of Water workshop attracting over 100 men and women
Workshops and site tours for the Australia-Vietnam twinning program between five Australian and five Vietnamese water utilities
Facilitation of drinking water kiosks installation within a regional primary school of the Khanh Hoa Province
Social events and site tours

Twinning Program Highlights

The program coincided with Vietwater’17, Vietnam’s largest water trade exhibition including over 14,000 delegates from across 30 countries where the Australian Pavilion won the highest award bestowed at the exhibition “Outstanding Booth Design”.  Following the event, the Association issued a feedback survey to all delegates which showed business deals over the next 12 months range from AUD$50,000 to over $12m.

The Association was grateful to have considerable support provided by its Board of Directors. This included President Francois Gouws, Immediate Past President Peter Moore PSM, Fabiana Tessele and Louise Dudley. Both Fabiana and Louise played an important role within the Women of Water Workshop and promotion of the Association’s Channeling Change program.

The Association has prepared two separate videos to highlight the outcomes achieved through its initiatives in Vietnam which can be viewed above. For further information on the twinning program outcomes to date please visit the Association’s twinning page.
