SA Branch

The Australian Water Association SA Branch enjoys excellent support from the local water industry and aims to inform, engage and enliven members by providing a setting for both professional development and industry networking. A variety of events and programs which address the local issues and challenges facing SA water professionals are regularly offered. In addition, the SA Branch also communicates local water industry news and information through regular emails and newsletters to members.

SA Branch Committee

Call for nominations now open

Nominations are now being sought for Committee members for the period July 2017 to June 2019.

Current financial Australian Water Association members who reside in South Australia are eligible to nominate for the SA Branch Committee with Office Bearer positions then chosen by the newly elected Committee.

As a member of the Branch committee you will play a pivotal role in assisting the Australian Water Association to achieve its strategic objectives through your knowledge of and connection to the water sector.

The Branch is seeking a broad range of skills to service all areas of the existing and future membership. We particularly encourage nominations from those with complementary skills to the more traditional engineering and water science skills. These skills may include the likes of stakeholder engagement, policy development, marketing, business development, economics, and organisational development.

It is essential to gain an understanding of what is expected and the time commitments required from Australian Water Association volunteer committee members before nominating. Therefore, it is recommended that all interested members and all nominees read the following document: Branch Procedures, Constitution and By-Laws and Policies and Procedures.

Nomination Form: SA Branch Committee

The Committee has a maximum 20 members some of which are ex-officio positions such as Immediate Past Chair and YWP Committee Representative. In the event that more nominations are received than positions available, elections will be held. Portions of the information you provide in the nomination form, which do not include your personal contact information, will be made available to members in support of the election process.

Nominations close at 5 pm (ACST) on 30 June 2017. Note: Late nominations will not be accepted.

SA Mentoring program

The Australian water industry is facing a significant skills challenge requiring both recruitment and retention strategies. The water industry would encounter serious workforce loss in the medium to long term future unless there was an explicit attempt to transfer tacit knowledge and consequently retain skills and knowledge within the industry.

This Mentoring program will be an effective way to develop skills via the transfer of knowledge from a more experienced mentor and a less experienced mentee.
