Transitioning the water sector towards a circular economy – from now to beyond

Water is a lynchpin in moving to a more circular economy – and as an industry, we have a pivotal role to play in that transition. But how do we move beyond obvious solutions, to truly impactful outcomes? Our panel of water market and sustainability leaders will explore opportunities to shift the needle on circularity – in our home state and beyond.

Our society is working towards becoming a circular economy – indeed, our planet relies on it. The water sector is central to the well-being of our communities, both urban and regional, and has long worked with the underlying fundamentals of circular economies:

  1. Eliminate waste and pollution
  2. Circulate products and materials (at their highest value
  3. Regenerate nature.

It is well accepted that better managing our finite resources is the challenge of our time and requires us to rapidly shift from linear to circular approaches to both production and consumption. With broader strategic commitments to sustainability at the fore, the water industry must foster cross-sector integration and new ways to understand and measure circularity. This will allow the industry to move beyond conventional responses and embrace the challenges – and opportunities – that come with embracing circular economy principles.

What is the role we can play, as water industry professionals, in fast-tracking and facilitating this transition? Join us for a panel discussion and Q&A on how we can lead by example to embed the key principles of a circular economy in all that we do.
