SA State Conference 2022

 The Conference will be an engaging one-day event held on Friday, 30 September at the Adelaide Convention Centre.  The theme for the Conference is Water Matters: Envisaging our Future.

With the theme focused on looking to the future, the conference provides an opportunity for you to hear about the latest information, technology, innovations, research or case studies that South Australian water professionals are talking about, delivering or considering. 

Keynote Speakers

Major "Moogy" Sumner AM
Ngarrindjeri / Kaurna Elder

Major Sumner became a Member of the Order of Australia in 2014 after dedicating his life to promoting Aboriginal health and welfare, and youth and cultural heritage. A Ngarrindjeri elder and a world-renowned artist, performer and cultural ambassador, he formed the Tal-kin-jeri Dance Group almost 30 years ago and has performed around the world. Major Sumner is passionate about people and planet – particularly saving the Murray and protecting the Great Australian Bight, while fighting to address inequality and for more Aboriginal representation in the federal parliament.


Dr Ariella Helfgott
Director Strategic Foresight, Department of the Premier and Cabinet
Dr Ariella Helfgott has almost 20 years of Strategic Foresight experience, having been the Director of Scenarios with the World Energy Council, a member of the Shell Scenario Team, Director of Collaborative Futures, Senior Fellow at the Universities of Oxford, Utrecht, Wageningen and Adelaide, and Strategic Analyst with the Australian Department of Defence. She has worked across 26 countries in 8 global regions on multi-actor collaborative systemic change processes that enable the cocreation of sustainable, equitable and prosperous futures.

Joanne Chong
Commissioner, Productivity Commission
Joanne joined the Productivity Commission as a Commissioner in April of this year. She was previously the Research Director of the Sustainable Pathways program, Land and Water at CSIRO, and prior to that a Research Director at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS)  Institute for Sustainable Futures. Jo has led multidisciplinary research teams working in partnerships for sustainable water management in Australia, in Asia and the Pacific.
Joanne will be sharing her thoughts on Securing our Water Future.
