Queensland Conference 2026

Written by Jodie Macdonald | Dec 18, 2025 12:27:19 AM

The 2026 Queensland State Conference in Townsville will explore the theme of: One Water, One Future: Uniting Queensland’s Water Story.

Queensland’s water journey is as diverse as its landscapes—from the dry western plains to the tropical north and bustling southeast. As the sector faces rapid change, new technologies, shifting climate realities, and evolving community expectations, collaboration has never been more crucial.

The Australian Water Association’s combined North Queensland and Queensland Conference invites utilities, government, Traditional Owners, industry, research, and emerging leaders to come together to build a shared vision for the state’s water future.

Under the theme “One Water, One Future: Uniting Queensland’s Water Story,” the conference will explore how we harness innovation, deepen partnerships, strengthen resilience, and ensure equitable, secure and sustainable water outcomes for every community across the state.

Join us as we connect the people, projects, and ideas shaping tomorrow’s Queensland.

About

Townsville Local Disaster Coordination Centre (LDCC)
Local Government is responsible for coordinating disaster management within its Local Government Area. The Townsville LDCC is a purpose-built coordination centre designed to withstand a Category 5 cyclone. It’s activated during disaster events to support informed decision-making by the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group (TLDMG). During the visit, you will receive a guided tour of the facility, followed by a presentation outlining the role of the TLDMG and how it functions to coordinate and support disaster management across Townsville

Ross River Dam
Ross River Dam is an earthen embankment dam over 8km in length with a gated concrete spillway that holds just over 233,000 ML at full supply level. The dam serves a dual-purpose providing the bulk of the city of Townsville’s water supply, as well as providing flood mitigation during extreme weather events like the 2019 floods. The tour will include a presentation on the dam and it’s operation as well as a guided tour of the spillway area.
