The current International Water Association Australia (IWAA) Committee is pleased to advise that nominations for the IWAA Committee and the Young Water Professional (YWP) Subcommittee are now open for the 2026 – 2028 financial year.
The IWAA Committee facilitates opportunities for IWA and AWA members to engage locally and globally in thematic activities, specialist groups, publications and events. The IWAA Committee recommend and assist to secure IWA events in Australia, to foster close collaboration between IWA and AWA to benefit the complementary objectives of both organisations and their respective members.
The IWAA Committee reflects a cross-section of water sector backgrounds, connections and expertise. Committee members provide enormous value to the IWAA when this knowledge and experience is applied to IWAA activities. With ongoing limitations on international events, we are interesting in exploring other ways to engage with and provide value to our local members.
The Australian Water Association (AWA) has a strong history of dedicated and passionate committees and volunteers and as a valued AWA committee member you have the opportunity to shape the priorities and outcomes of your local state or territory Branch linked to the Association’s strategic plan.

These pivotal position carry a two (2) year tenure, commencing 1 July 2026 through to 30 June 2028. To maintain your position, continuous financial membership of IWA and AWA throughout this period is required. Only joint IWA and AWA members are eligible to nominate.
Members in IWAA YWP will build their career in the water sector by connecting and contributing (work with peers internationally) to the water sector, and through this build their network, develop professionally, and gain profile.
The YWP subcommittee consists of up to fifteen (15) professional or concession members and include a YWP Subcommittee Chair and Vice Chair. Each position is for a two (2) year term commencing 1 July 2026 through to 30 June 2028.
The IWAA committee and IWAA subcommittee meets regularly and facilitates multiple initiatives such as supporting Australian bids for IWA conferences, Ozwater presentations and other events such as IWA / AWA National Young Water Professionals conference, and connecting IWA specialist groups with AWA specialist networks.
To nominate for a committee you must be a financial member of the AWA and IWA.. If you are not a member and would like to nominate, membership can be made online for AWA here or IWA here.
Should more nominations be received than positions are available, elections will be undertaken in April/May 2026. New committee terms commence 1 July 2026.
