Join us Friday 06 March to celebrate International Women's Day 2026.

Aligned with the UN’s theme Balance the scales, join us for a powerful online panel session hosted by WSAA, AWA and WIOA.

This year’s theme highlights the importance of creating equitable opportunities and outcomes for women across all industries. In the water sector, many organisations are actively working to increase women’s participation and progression in operational roles — and this session will explore what it truly means to balance the scales in operations.

Our panel of industry leaders and practitioners will share insights, experiences and practical strategies to drive meaningful change.

Topics to be explored include:

Access and opportunity — attraction, retention and career pathways
Safety and respect in operational environments
Leadership and accountability for sustainable progress

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion focused on advancing equity and strengthening the future of water operations.

Speakers

Sally Rewell
Water Resource Recovery Lead - North, Sydney Water

Sally has over 15 years’ experience in the water industry. She graduated from University of Technology, Sydney with a Master of Engineering Management, and the University of Sydney with an honour’s degree in Chemical Engineering. Sally started at Sydney Water on their graduate program in 2010. She now holds a senior management position at Sydney Water as Water Resource Recovery Leader North, managing 8 water resource recovery facilities. She is currently Vice President of the AWA NSW Branch committee and co-chair of the National Operations Specialist Network. She also actively mentors young engineers both within Sydney Water and AWA to grow and develop their careers in the water industry. She was recently honoured at the AWA NSW Water Awards with the Kamal Fernando Mentoring Award.
