It’s expected that in coming decades the National Electricity Market (NEM) will rely less on coal and more on renewable energy sources like wind and solar. These changes are already starting to happen, and it’s expected the 2020s will bring about rapid change.
The Battery of the Nation initiative is about investigating and developing a pathway of future development opportunities for Tasmania - wind, hydropower system expansion including pumped hydro and more transmission and interconnection.
Realising this vision would position Tasmania to make a much greater contribution to the National Electricity Market (NEM).
Come along to hear more about this exciting opportunity for our state. Speakers will cover the energy market context, Tasmania’s future renewable energy potential and the work being undertaken. And we’d love to hear your questions and comments, not to mention the chance to catch up with fellow AWA members.
