SA Seminar: The Future of Wastewater

SA Seminar: The Future of Wastewater
SA AWA Technical Seminar number one for 2017 is focussed on World Water Day, an annual event coordinated by UN-Water. This year the theme is Wastewater. Globally, the vast majority of all the wastewater from homes, cities, industry and agriculture flows back to nature without being treated or reused – polluting the environment, and losing valuable nutrients and other recoverable materials. Instead of wasting wastewater, we need to reduce and reuse it.

To celebrate World Water Day 2017, AWA and WIA are teaming up to provide a joint technical and networking session for our members.

South Australia may be enjoying a period of high rainfall, but climate variability and the likely impacts of climate change mean we need to continually improve the way we manage our water resources.

AWA and WIA are committed to supporting the SA Water Industry to embrace the latest technology and management approaches. This is demonstrated through AWA’s mission to

foster knowledge, understanding and advancement in sustainable water management, and WIA’s support of industry development through the WaRDA and MAR Hub clusters.

This joint members night will highlight projects that have been implemented here in South Australia which represent the future of wastewater management – reusing wastewater in innovative ways to offset potable water use and provide a range of direct and indirect benefits. The presentations will be followed by a panel discussion looking at the opportunities and barriers to sustainable wastewater management in South Australia.
