Join us for regular after-work sundowner drinks and informal networking hosted every month by the AWA SA Young Water Professionals. Special guest speakers will be invited throughout the series to explore a wide range of topics through a short presentation and discussion.
These events are open to anyone with an interest in the water industry and present an opportunity to meet and catch up with other professionals. No ticket or registration required, there’s a bar available to purchase your own drinks.
2018 Hodgson Medal winner and Flinders PhD candidate Andrew Knight will be our guest speaker.
Andrew is the winner of AWA’s SA Branch 2018 Hodgson Medal, recognising outstanding student contributions to the water sector.
A PhD candidate at Flinders University, Andrew’s doctoral project, "The onshore influence of Offshore Fresh Groundwater" investigates the interactions between onshore and offshore fresh groundwater and the associated impact on water security for coastal communities globally.
Andrew’s work may provide a basis for subsequent investigations by water resource managers to further scrutinise their local offshore resources, thereby reducing the long-term risks associated with using coastal aquifers for freshwater supply.
The custodians of coastal aquifers will also be better informed of the potential influence that offshore fresh groundwater may have on their onshore resources when designing future water allocation plans.
Thursday 18 April, 5.15-6.30pm.
Belgian Beer Cafe, Ebenezer Place.
