The SDGs in Our Own Backyard
Call for Papers
In 2015, the United Nations launched the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) – also known as Global Goals – to change the world for the better and leave no one behind by 2030. But how do these goals work in the water industry and how will they affect us?
QWater’19 will assist with understanding the goals and targets set for 2030 in relation to our own industry. It will tackle how SDG’s are already implemented in many water entities and how business practices are innovating using SDG’s, in our own backyard.
The Sustainable Development Goals present a unique opportunity for the water industry in Queensland to align on achieving a better tomorrow. Never before have we had a formal platform that so clearly outlines goals and targets to achieve social change. Sharing our stories through this conference is one way we can take action.
Please join us on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 November at the Brisbane Sofitel for this innovative conference. We encourage presentations from the full range of perspectives within our industry, engineering and operations to legal, accounting and human resources as well as from organisations such as suppliers, consultants, contractors and water utilities.
Now is the time for us to get informed, share our stories, and make a change the good. 2030 is just around the corner.
Who should submit papers?
If you are an individual or organisation ready to share your experience and affect positive change towards the development of a sustainable water industry please contribute to the conversation and submit your abstracts. The committee will consider submissions from all disciplines and from persons at all levels in an organisation; from the new graduate to the chief executive, and for independent operators with views and new technical information to share across the industry.
Earlybird abstract submissions
Due to the overwhelming demand in previous years for an oral presentation position in the QWater program, we are launching a new earlybird initiative for this year’s call for papers. By submitting your abstract within the earlybird period, you will have the advantage of being eligbile for a pre-selection for the program before the general call for papers closes. Up to a third of the oral presentation positions in the program will be available to earlybird abstract submitters. The abstract will need to meet the expected quality of a QWater presentation.
Earlybird abstract submissions close 5pm, Thursday 11 July 2019 (no extensions will be granted).
All abstract submissions must be received by 5pm, 1 August 2019 (no extensions will be granted)
