A Region of Extremes – Resilience and Innovation in the Face of Change

Thursday 26th– Friday 27th July 2018

Call for papers
The Committee of the Queensland Branch of AWA would like to encourage you to submit a paper for this exciting conference which will focus on the “A Region of Extremes – Resilience and Innovation in the Face of Change”. The Association’s plan is to present a broad range of presentations relating to the unique environment of the regions including but not exclusively the reef. The region is subject to cycles of boom and bust in terms of the economy, development and climate. This, together with the region’s remoteness and diversity creates a unique background for managing the water cycle and the associated assets in northern Australia.

We also hope to have input from Federal and State regulators to provide insight into the trends in environmental protection.  Past papers have presented options from high-tech solutions down to low-cost, minimalist ideas.  Innovation is sometimes in the eye of the beholder; your standard operating procedures could be a solution to somebody else’s problems so please spread the knowledge and support the Conference in July at Cairns.

The series of the Australian Water Assocation’s North Queensland Regional Conferences have been very successful and has enjoyed strong growth over the years, with over 150 people attending recent regional conferences.
Abstract submissions close 5pm, Friday 13 April.
