QLD Mentoring Program 2020
The QLD Young Water Professionals (YWP) Mentoring Program is back by popular demand! Applications close 22 May, 2020.
Due to popular demand, the QLD Young Water Professionals Mentoring Program will be up and running in 2020! If you’re looking for guidance in managing your career then this is your chance to find the mentorship you need. Or if you’re keen to make a difference for an up-and-coming water professional whilst developing your coaching and leadership skills then we strongly encourage you to sign up as a mentor.
6 month-long program
, you will be paired up with a Mentor/Mentee and be provided with some pointers throughout, to help you get the most out of your relationship.
The Program will be facilitated by the QLD YWP Committee, however, your mentoring relationship over the Program period can be formal or informal and is based on openness, mutual trust, respect, encouragement, constructive comments and a willingness to learn.
How can mentoring help me?
Mentoring is an important influence in professional development and constitutes a rewarding bilateral relationship. Whilst mentees get much needed guidance, encouragement and access to invaluable experience, mentors can benefit from learning new perspectives and developing leadership and communication skills. Student Mentoring Stream
For the first time, we are trialling a Mentoring Stream specifically focused on the needs of students. The student mentoring program will focus on the transition from academic to professional environment and aim to provide mentees with skills to kick start their careers in the water industry. For this purpose, we have designed a more structured program with pre-scheduled meetings with mentors, job interview training and deliverables such as a small presentation/report.
There’s a limited number of vacancies for the Student Mentoring Program. If you’d like to register for this mentoring stream,
please submit a small text introducing yourself
and explaining why you’d like to take part in the program.
We will advise if you are selected and ask you to register using the registration links below.
We are encouraging water professionals of all ages to sign up as a student mentor.
This year, mentoring can be an essential way to keep young professionals and mentors engaged and promote mutual support through these challenging times. For the foreseeable future, all Mentoring related events will be held remotely. Participants are welcome to register as both a mentee and mentor.
