Since establishment of diplomatic relations in February 1973, Australia and Vietnam have developed a substantive, positive and mutually beneficial relationship, reinforced by warm and expanding people-to-people links.

In recent years there has been a shift in Australia’s and Vietnam’s development cooperation, from a relationship based on development aid to one which strengthens its focus on trade and investment, by helping to improve the business climate and expand the scope of business opportunities for mutual benefit.

The Australian Water Association in partnership with the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and with support from the Australian and Vietnamese Governments have now commenced a series of initiatives designed to support this transition by strengthening relations and sharing of expertise and technological innovations in water. Vietwater 2015 marked the start of the Australian Water Association's and the VWSA’s programme to connect the Australian and Vietnamese water sectors.

Information session on opportunities for the Victorian water sector in Vietnam
7 September 2017, 10am – 12pm (lunch 12-1pm)

There is tremendous potential for Victorian water businesses in Vietnam. The Government of Vietnam is committed to transforming the water sector so that all people have access to clean water and sanitation in their homes by 2020.

To support this commitment and enable Victorian water companies to explore opportunities in the Vietnamese water market, the Victorian Government in partnership with the Australian Water Association is delivering an information session on opportunities in the Vietnamese water market. Participants will hear from a range of experts on opportunities for Victorian companies to do business in Vietnam.

You will also hear about the program for the 3rd Australian delegation to Vietwater’17 – Vietnam's largest water conference and exhibition, which sees more than 13,000 delegates in attendance. As demonstrated by the last two Australian delegations to Vietwater, there is strong demand for Australia’s expertise and technological innovation in water supply, water quality, water asset management, network operation, climate change adaptation, and governance and regulation. The Victorian water sector has a lot it can offer to Vietnam.
