Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in February 1973, Australia and Vietnam have developed a substantive, positive and mutually beneficial relationship, reinforced by warm and expanding people-to-people links.
In recent years there has been a shift in Australia’s and Vietnam’s relationship from one based on development aid to one which strengthens its focus on trade and investment by helping to improve the business climate and expand the scope of business opportunities for mutual benefit.
The Australian Water Association, in partnership with the Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA) and with support from the Australian and Vietnamese Governments, has been involved in a series of initiatives designed to support this transition by strengthening relations and sharing of expertise and technological innovations in water.
Vietwater’15 marked the start of the program to connect the Australian and Vietnamese water sectors. From 2015 to now, the Australian delegations to Vietwater each year have been the largest to ever travel to Vietnam.
The Australian program is coordinated with the Vietwater exhibition which attracts over 15,000 delegates from over 500 countries and includes a series of workshops, business meetings, a site tour and networking events designed to facilitate strengthened partnerships.
