Head of Communications & Corporate Services

We will be focussing on growing our core and differentiating capabilities through developing our people, streamlining our processes, enabling data and technology and adopting Agile ways of working.

The opportunity: As a member of our Senior Leadership Team who works closely with our recently appointed CEO, you will be responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight of 1) Communications, Content & Marketing, 2) Governance & Risk, 3) Financial Management, 4) IT & Data Management and 5) People & Culture activities.

You will lead and manage a team across communications, marketing, finance, technology as well as external contractors and foster an ‘One AWA’ culture across all aspects of Communications & Corporate Services and the other groups within the organisation. 

Importantly you will ensure that the Association is well governed and complies with its Constitution and regulatory obligations. This role is also appointed by the Board as the Company Secretary.

What you’ll need to succeed:

To be successful you’ll need to be an experienced business manager with 7+ years’ experience leading, developing and managing people, have a sound understanding of financial, technological and risk & compliance requirements for a small -medium NFP Association, coupled with a clear understanding of the professional, ethical and legal responsibilities associated with this position.

You will also have highly developed communication skills to lead the internal and external communications strategy, to help to grow our brand and enhance our name as the leading association for water professionals in Australia.

Critical to this role is your demonstrated business acumen and ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.  You will also have excellent leadership skills and high EQ with an ability to engage others to understand and embrace organisational culture, change, directions, goals and customer / member centricity.

You will have a Communications degree or other appropriate level qualification in a recognised discipline, with an emphasis on Business.

Desirable experience: Finance or accounting qualifications or post graduate business management (e.g. MBA) qualifications would be highly regarded, as would experience in financial analysis, reporting and management, Executive / Board Reporting and knowledge of and/ or experience in the water sector.

Head of Events, Awards & Digital

The opportunity: As a member of our Senior Leadership Team who works closely with our recently appointed CEO, you will be responsible for developing, managing and coordinating our national program of conferences, events and awards (physical and digital), including event strategy & curation, end-to-end project management and key partner engagement for all national and major State conferences, seminars and workshops as required and in conjunction with relevant staff, members and committees. 

You will lead and manage a team of events and exhibition professionals as well as external contractors and foster a ‘One AWA’ culture across all aspects of Events, Awards & Digital and the other groups within the organisation. 

Joining us during a significant and exciting time of organisational transformation, there will be plenty for you to get your teeth into and showcase your considerable leadership skills and event management and digital expertise.

What you’ll need to succeed: You’ll need to be an experienced event manager with 5+ years’ experience of successfully leading, developing and managing people. Critical to your success is your demonstrated business acumen and budget accountability and ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders.  You will also have an ability to engage others to understand and embrace organisational culture, change, directions, goals and customer / member centricity.

You will have highly developed communication skills with the ability to prepare Executive/Board level reports and manage external communications and marketing for events.

You must be digitally savvy and possess the ability to transform face to face events to digital products, including major events, exhibitions and awards. You will be proficient with Events specific software such as Aventri and Jomablue.

You will have appropriate qualifications or equivalent in event management or an associated discipline.

Desirable experience: Not-for-profit sector experience such as volunteer management and/or experience in the water sector or similar industry will be highly regarded.

Financial Controller

The opportunity: As a member of the finance team who works closely with the Head of Communication & Corporate Services, you will be responsible for managing our financial systems and practices, ensuring financial information, analysis and advice is accurate, timely and compliant.

Key to your role is understanding our operating environment to offer advice, technical leadership and direction in financial management and accounting practices, ensuring our continued sustainability. You will also provide the CEO and Board with relevant information and advice to enable sound financial decision making. You enjoy providing a great customer experience for internal stakeholders and members through seamless and timely financial processes, in line with our ‘One AWA’ culture.

What you’ll need to succeed: To be successful you’ll need 10+ years’ accounting experience, including recent experience in a similar level role and environment.  You will have demonstrated business acumen and an ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders. 

Strong knowledge and expertise in financial reporting and annual audit processes including the management of end of year processes are essential along with strong mathematical and analytical skills, and a high proficiency in accounting packages (e.g. SAGE) and Microsoft applications, particularly Excel.

A clear understanding of the professional ethical and legal responsibilities relevant to the position and having an ability and willingness to take a practical approach and undertake work at both operational and strategic levels are essential.

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with CPA or ACA qualification is a must.

Member Experience & Innovation Manager

We will be focussing on growing our core and differentiating capabilities through developing our people, streamlining our processes, enabling data and technology, and adopting Agile ways of working.

The opportunity: As a member of our Strategy, Membership & Innovation group you will be responsible enabling the delivery of a great member experience across all stages and touchpoints of a member journey and helping the Association to continually achieve greater member satisfaction, increased efficiency and sustainability.

You will play a key role in outlining and achieving how members perceive the Association while driving higher member satisfaction, Net Promoter Score (NPS), member retention, growth and new products and revenue.

You will act as a “Voice of Customer” (VoC), to enable process improvement and the development of new products and services that improve our member experience (MX). Importantly you will lead the building of Agile capability to be implemented as a ‘way of working’ for strategic initiatives, new product and services development and to improve processes and use of data and technology.

Key to your success will be your ability to use data to derive meaningful insights for improvements and guiding our teams to ensure a member-centric attitude, fostering our ‘One AWA’ culture, and aligned to our Member Experience (MX) and Digital Strategy.

What you’ll need to succeed: You’ll need 5+ years’ experience in a Customer Experience role including Customer Journey mapping and Customer centred design with a sound understanding of membership based not-for profit Associations and member (customer) centricity. 

Critical to your success is your demonstrated experience in Customer Journey mapping and process improvements (including Agile Methodology) that increase efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and bring new products and services to market quickly.

Outstanding data, analytical, data visualisation and Advanced Excel skills are essential along with an understanding of Lean Six Sigma principles, practices and tools including solving customer pain points and process mapping 

A Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable work/technical experience is also essential.

Desirable experience: Agile scrum certification and / or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt with knowledge of and/ or experience in the water sector

Data & Insights Manager

We will be focussing on growing our core and differentiating capabilities through developing our people, streamlining our processes, enabling data and technology, and adopting Agile ways of working.

The opportunity: As a member of our Communications & Corporate Services group you will be responsible for building capability for managing data, insights and content across the Association, ensuring it is accurate, available and secure to enable member growth, retention and enhance member experience.

You will provide data and insights to improve the accuracy and effectiveness of member retention and attraction as well as improvements in digital member interactions (emails, website etc.). Importantly this role will foster a ‘One AWA’ culture to bring consistency and best practice to how data is collected, managed and used across the Association while ensuring we fully comply with data regulations for privacy and security.

This role will also require change leadership and development of the staff in new ways of working such as Agile while keeping existing member processes and services going. You will also play key role in scoping and creating a new CRM.

Joining us during a significant and exciting time of organisational transformation, there will be plenty for you to get your teeth into and showcase your considerable analytical skills and data management expertise.

What you’ll need to succeed: You’ll need 5+ years’ experience in a data centric role preferably in a customer experience (CX) context.  Critical to your success is your demonstrated experience in data management, reporting and analytics and well as your well-honed problem-solving and analytical skills, and your ability interpret and leverage data insights for business outcomes.

You will have excellent communication skills with the ability to deliver business cases, presentations and training.

You will have strong project management skills and be proficient in all major business packages (Excel, PowerPoint, Office 365, SharePoint) and an understanding of Agile methodology.

You will have a Bachelor’s degree (data, analytics) in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable work/technical experience

Desirable experience: Agile scrum certification and / or Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
