The Australian Stockholm Junior Water Prize (ASJWP) is an annual water science competition for high school students focusing on projects aimed at improving the quality of life through improvement of water quality, water resources management, water protection and water and wastewater treatment. This award aims to increase interest in water-related issues and research, and to raise awareness and knowledge of global water challenges.

Eligibility
The competition is open to all Australian high school students between the ages of 15-20.
Task
Students are invited to undertake a water-related research project focusing on solving community water problems. The scope of the project may be on a local, regional, national or global topic but must have the potential to improve quality of life and/or the environment.
All projects must use a research-oriented approach, which means that they must use scientifically accepted methodologies for experimentation, monitoring and reporting results, including statistical analyses. Research should be written up into a 20-page (maximum) scientific paper and submitted to the Australian Water Association.
Criteria
Projects in the National ASJWP and the Internationals Stockholm Junior Water Prize (SJWP) are judged according to the following criteria:

Judging
A judging panel to assess nominations for the ASJWP is established by AWA National Office consisting of between six and nine members of the water industry, including the Chair, generally an AWA Program Manager.
Prize
- Finalists receive a AWA Awards Certificate.
- National winner receives a trophy, a return flight to Stockholm and accommodation to participate in a one week cultural exchange program and represent Australia in the international Stockholm Junior Water Prize. If the national winner is a group of students, one representative receives flights and accommodation, other group members may go to Stockholm at their own expense.
- The winner’s school receives a trophy.
All entrants will receive a Certificate of Participation.
Awarded at
The ASJWP finalists will present their project to a judging panel at Ozwater'14 in Brisbane on 29 April - 2 May 2014.

- Project in Word format
- Biography (minimum 180 words, maximum 250 words)
- Photo (in jpg or similar format)
- Abstract (minimum 250 words, maximum 350 words)
