AWA is Australia’s leading membership association for water
professionals and organisations. Independent and not for profit AWA
plays an important role in supporting the Australian water sector in the
delivery of effective and sustainable water management practices.
AWA
has a unique position in the water sector as the only body that
represents all water-related disciplines. Our broadly based members
includes engineers, scientists, consultants, environmental managers,
regulators, operational staff and many more from the public, private and
third sector.
We work with water professionals to provide
professional development and networking opportunities to help
continuously advance skills and expertise within the sector.

Through our extensive range of technical seminars, courses and conferences, we also provide a forum for debate and best practice dissemination at a local, national and international level. AWA is committed to building Australia's water capabilities to maintain its position as a world leader in water management.
MEMBERSHIP
AWA works with and for our members to deliver programs and services that effectively meet their needs. A significant number of our members take an active and voluntary role in all aspects of AWA’s work at both a national and state level.
In 2011,
membership of AWA stood at over 5,500 members, including over 600 corporate members. Our strong corporate membership base includes government agencies, Australia’s leading water utilities, engineering and manufacturing companies.
SERVICES
AWA runs a full program of technical seminars, workshops and conferences throughout the year. On average one AWA event is held every four days. Australia’s premier water industry event, Ozwater, is also managed by AWA.
AWA also publishes a number of publications to keep our members informed about the latest news and developments in the water sector. Publications include branch newsletters, a weekly e-newsletter and Water, Australia’s leading water industry journal.
INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION
AWA is the gateway to international collaboration and networking in water. The Australian committee of the International Water Association is a branch of the AWA. Additionally, AWA is a regional affiliate of the International Desalination Association and has strong bilateral ties with water associations around the globe.
